The Sri Lanka Navy has foiled another attempt to illegally migrate overseas via the sea route.
A group consisting of nearly 50 persons has been arrested for attempting to travel overseas via a boat.
The Navy had arrested the suspects at the Kolinjadiya area in Wennappuwa.
They said the group had attempted to travel to France via boat from Wennappuwa.
The suspects have been handed over to the Wennappuwa Police for further investigations.
Several Sri Lankans have been attempting to flee overseas via the sea route due to the hardships faced as a result of the current economic crisis. (NewsWire)
