Manufacturers of locally produced biscuits and other sweetmeats have addressed allegations pertaining to the high price of their products.

They pointed out that the importation of ‘A’ grade wheat flour for production amidst the dollar crisis has resulted in the hike in prices of several products.

Stating that in May wheat flour was priced at Rs. 74, the manufacturers pointed out that at present it is priced between Rs. 290-300.

“This is a 277% increase in price,” the local manufacturers revealed, addressing the media.

They further said that the sum spent to import good quality wheat flour during the dollar crisis has resulted in the hike in the price of their products. (NewsWire)
