Amnesty period announced to deposit/sell foreign currency in the hands of public

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has announced a ONE MONTH amnesty period to DEPOSIT/SELL the foreign currency in the hands of the public from the 15th of August.

Issuing a statement, the CBSL said that the measure has been taken in order to attract foreign currency held with the public in the banking system. 

The order issued by the Minister of Finance is for persons in, or residents in, Sri Lanka who hold foreign currency notes in possession. (NewsWire)
