Officials from India and the Maldives have focused their attention on the current economic crisis of Sri Lanka.
The matter was discussed during a meeting between Maldivian Speaker Mohamed Nasheed and Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.
“Lovely as always to meet @DrSJaishankar. We discussed the Maldives and issues facing Indian Ocean island nations. Of course, Sri Lanka’s financial crisis worries us both. I’m always impressed by the Minister’s depth and breadth of knowledge,” Nasheed Tweeted, commenting on the meeting.
Earlier, former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed was appointed to coordinate and assist Sri Lanka in securing relief for the country from foreign nations.
The appointment was made by President Ranil Wickremesinghe during his tenure as Prime Minister under former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. (NewsWire)
