Reports claiming that nearly 300 fuel stations have been closed due to payment issues are completely false, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said today.

Earlier, the Fuel Station Owners Association said that due to the new payment system introduced by the CPC around 300 fuel stations across the country have been temporarily closed.

As per the new system, payments were required to be made before 9:30 pm on the previous day for the stock of fuel ordered.

Issuing a statement, the CPC said that the allegations of the closure of 300 fuel stations are untrue.

The CPC said that the period to settle payments had been extended until 10.30 am from yesterday (05).

The CPC further said that the CPC and Private Bowzer owners had also reached an agreement to distribute fuel without delay and shortage. (NewsWire)
