A 24-year-old youth has died in a motor accident that was reported at the Wijerama Junction in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo 07 last night (06).
The Police said that the accident had taken place when a vehicle struck a motorcycle from behind while it was plying from Rosmead Place to the Wijerama Junction.
They said the vehicle had hit the motorcycle due to high speed. The deceased has been identified as a resident of Grandpass.
The Police said preliminary investigations have revealed that the driver had been intoxicated, had driven in a reckless manner, and had been negligent while driving.
The driver of the vehicle has been arrested, while the Cinnamon Gardens Police is conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
