Nearly 1250 dengue-infected patients are being reported per week in Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Health said.

The Ministry said that there is a significant increase in dengue cases at present due to the rainy weather prevalent in the country.

The Health Ministry has identified 55 Grama Niladhari areas in 06 districts as high-risk areas for the spread of the dengue virus.

A dengue eradication programme had been conducted from the 1st to the 3rd of September in the areas during which 75,993 properties had been inspected.

Among the inspected properties, 20,704 were identified as grounds conducive to the breeding of dengue mosquitoes. (NewsWire)
