Five involved in human trafficking using boats arrested in Kattankudy

Five suspects involved in human trafficking via illegal migration using boats have been arrested at the Muththuvaran Coastal area in Kattankudy. 

The Police said the suspects were arrested during a special operation that was conducted together by officers of the Valachchenai Special Task Force and Kalavanchikudi Camp last night.

The five suspects had provided necessary transport facilities to a group attempting to illegally travel to Australia via boat.

The Police had seized four dinghy boats and 70 litres of kerosene during the raid and had handed over the suspects to the Kattankudy Police.

The suspects aged 28, 31, 33, 37, and 44 are residents of Batticaloa and Nawalady.

The Kattankudy Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
