There is a possibility for another 10 Cabinet Ministers to be appointed at present, Chief Government Whip and Minister of Urban Development and Housing Prasanna Ranatunga said.
The Minister said that he believes that more ministers must be appointed as there is a possibility for another 10 Cabinet Ministers to be appointed at present, which will bring the total number of ministers to 30.
“The new ministers must be appointed soon as several ministries have been handed over to the current ministers. By appointing new ministers some ministries can be delegated to them, which will reduce the burden on the current ministers,” he explained.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Minister Prasanna Ranatunga pointed out thereby, that no allegations can be raised pertaining to extra government expenses in this regard.
Stating that if there are allegations of extra expense, he said then all the ministers must work without drawing their MPs’ salary, which is not possible.
The Minister pointed out that certain state officials are drawing way larger salaries, which are almost 10-15 times more than that of an MP, and if so those must be stopped first.
Minister Prasanna Ranatunga added that these are just reasons for the Opposition parties to raise allegations against the government. (NewsWire)
