President leaves for Japan, appoints Acting Ministers

President Ranil Wickremesinghe left Sri Lanka early this morning to undertake his official visits to Japan and the Philippines.

The President will first visit Japan, where he will attend the funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe which will be held tomorrow. 

During his two-day official visit to Japan, the President will participate in bilateral discussions with the Japanese Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Finance Minister.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is thereafter, scheduled to leave for the Philippines to preside over the meeting of the Governors of the Asian Development Bank.

During his visit to the Philippines, President Wickremesinghe will hold discussions with the President of the Philippines Bongbong Marcos, and the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Masatsugu Asakawa.

The President is scheduled to return to Sri Lanka on the 30th of September.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed Acting Ministers to the ministries under his purview to be handled during his absence. 

The Acting Ministers are as follows:

State Minister Premitha Bandara – Acting Defence Minister

State Minister Shehan Semasinghe -Acting Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization & National Policies

State Minister Dilum Amunugama – Acting Minister of Investment Promotion

State Minister Kanaka Herath – Acting Minister of Technology

State Minister Anupa Pasqual – Acting Minister of Women, Child Affairs, and Social Empowerment. (NewsWire)
