President proposes establishment of Climate Change University in SL

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has proposed the establishment of an International University on Climate Change in Sri Lanka. 

The President’s Media Division (PMD) said the proposal was made during a meeting with the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila, Philippines today.

The President met ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa at the head office of the Asian Development Bank in the Philippines today. 

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has proposed the establishment of an International University on Climate Change in Sri Lanka with the assistance of the ADB.

Expressing his gratitude to the ADB for the financial assistance provided to Sri Lanka in the past, the President held discussions on further strengthening the ties between the nation and the bank in the future.

Responding to the President, ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa vowed to continue the Asian Development Bank’s support for Sri Lanka.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is currently in the Philippines as he Chaired the 55th Governors Meeting of the ADB in Manila yesterday. 

The President is expected to return to Sri Lanka today. (NewsWire)
