Final draft of UNHRC resolution on Sri Lanka presented

The final draft of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution on Sri Lanka has been presented by the core group on Sri Lanka in Geneva.

The resolution is sponsored by the core group which is led by the USA, the UK, Canada, and Germany, along with 30 other countries.

Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Ali Sabry says Sri Lanka will oppose the newly submitted resolution.

He further said that Sri Lanka will work against it and stand against the resolution.

“It is difficult to compete with powerful nations in the UNHRC. However, whatever the vote result, Sri Lanka will stand firm against the new UNHRC resolution,” he said. 

Foreign Minister Ali Sabry is representing Sri Lanka at the ongoing 51st session of the UNHRC.
