Police suspect kite dispute cause for Minuwangoda triple murder

Police investigations have revealed that the triple murder reported in Minuwangoda today is suspected to be linked to a kite dispute.

The Police said 07 deaths have been reported to date linked to the kite dispute, adding that the first murder was committed by the Minuwangoda victims in August 2017.

Investigations reveal that a father and his two sons had been remanded after being arrested over the murder in 2017, while one among them had been shot dead in August 2018.

The chief suspect of the 2018 murder, a youth, had been murdered in June 2021, and the father and two sons who were killed in Minuwangoda today had been accused of the murder.

Police investigations reveal that the three victims who had been released from prison a few months ago had been gunned down at their own residence in Minuwangoda today. 

The victims are a 51-year-old man, and his two sons aged 23 and 24 years.

However, three suspects have been arrested over the triple murder in Minuwangoda following a joint operation conducted by the Police Special Task Force in Galewela. (NewsWire)
