Minuwangoda triple murder: Key suspect arrested in Anuradhapura

The key suspect wanted over the triple murder that was reported in Minuwangoda yesterday has been arrested by the Police Special Task Force (STF) at Rambewa, Anuradhapura.

The Police also arrested three other suspects in the Galewela area yesterday over the murder of a 51-year-old man and his two sons aged 23 and 24.

The suspects who are residents of Minuwangoda had been arrested while travelling in a bus in the Galewela area yesterday.

The four suspects arrested thus far in connection to the triple murder in Minuwangoda are aged 23,24, 30, and 54.

Meanwhile, a man and woman were also arrested in Minuwangoda yesterday for aiding the triple murder. The 38-year-old man and 37-year-old woman are residents of Minuwangoda.

The triple murder victims had been shot dead at their house in the Gaman Gedara area in Minuwangoda at around 7.00 a.m. yesterday, while it is suspected that a T-56 assault rifle was used to carry out the murders.

Initial investigations had found the murders to be linked to a kite dispute in 2017, while a total of 07 deaths have been reported thus far in connection to the dispute. 

Further investigations into the triple murder are being conducted under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Gampaha. (NewsWire)
