With Namibia’s shock win today, there is a possibility that West Indies & Sri Lanka both qualify into Group 2 with India, Pakistan, South Africa & Bangladesh – forming a group of death.
Sri Lanka not only lost the match but took a massive hit on their net run rate as well. By losing by 55 runs, Sri Lanka currently have a very poor net rate of -2.750, this could be a deciding factor if things come down to a stage where 3 teams are tied with equal points.
If UAE lose all three of their matches, Sri Lanka beat Netherlands & Netherlands beat Namibia then Net Run Rate will decide this group. Sri Lanka will require Namibia to beat Netherlands to ensure Net Run Rate doesn’t come into play.
