The Custodian and Chief Priest of the Maha Bodhi, and the Atamasthanadhipathi of Anuradhapura the Most Venerable (Dr) Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero has passed away.
According to reports, the most Venerable Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa Nayaka Thera passed away at a private hospital in Colombo. He was 69 at the time of his demise.
President Ranil Wickremesinghe today issued directives on the arrangements for a state-sponsored funeral for the Most Venerable (Dr) Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero.
The President has appointed North Central Province Governor Maheepala Herath and the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious & Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickramanayaka to coordinate the arrangements.
The final rites of the late Atamasthanadhipathi the Most Venerable (Dr) Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero will be held on Saturday, 22nd October 2022 at 2.30 pm in Anuradhapura. (NewsWire)
