The Ministry of Education has issued a special notice to schools on the process to be followed with regard to academic activities during the 2022 Grade 05 Scholarship and GCE Advanced Level examinations.
The notice provides instructions on the commencement and conclusion of the second and third academic terms of schools for the year.
For Sinhala and Tamil language schools:
- Second academic term concludes on 1st December 2022
School holidays commence on 2nd December 2022.
- First phase of the third academic term for 2022 commences on 05th December 2022 and concludes on 22nd December 2022.
School holidays from 23rd December 2022 to 1st January 2023 (Christmas)
- Second phase of the third academic term for 2022 is from 02nd – 20th January 2023.
Schools leave from 21st January 2023 to 19th February 2023 (GCE Advanced Level Examination)
- Third phase of the third academic term for 2022 is from 20th February 2023 – 24th March 2023.
For Muslim schools:
- Second academic term for the year 2022 concludes on 1st December 2022
School holidays from 2nd – 4th December 2022.
- First phase of the third academic term for the year 2022 from 5th – 22nd December 2022.
School leave from 23rd December 2022 to 1st January 2023 (Christmas)
- Second phase of the third academic term for the year 2022 from 2nd January to 15th February 2023.
School holidays from 16th to 28th February 2023.
- Third phase of the third academic term for the year 2022 from 1st – 21st March 2023.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has declared Monday, 24th October 2022, a holiday for Tamil schools in view of the Deepavali festival.
The Ministry said, however, academic activities will be conducted for the said schools on Saturday, 29th October 2022, to cover the leave. (NewsWire)
