Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on getting re-elected as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
“The election results have re-confirmed the strenght and courage that your leadership holds and the broad public support for a people centric policy towards the accelerated socioeconomic development of China” Mahinda Rajapksa said in a congratulatory letter sent to the Chinese President.
MP Mahinda Rajapaksa further said that the Sri Lankan Government is looking forward to continuing it’s strong cooperation with China, under the leadership of Xi Jinping.
Xi Jinping secured a historic third term as leader of China on Sunday, cementing his status as the country’s most powerful figure in decades.
Xi’s third 5-year term became official when he was first to walk out on stage at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where the National Congress of the ruling Chinese Communist Party wrapped up on Saturday (22).
