The game was introduced to Hindu College in 2019.
It was started with only 20 students who had no preference and no prior experience. Then master Dhanushkar was the captain of the team.
After training tirelessly in a very short period of time, the team won the first place at the provincial level by competing with experienced teams in the Western Province competition which was held in Kaluthara district in June 2019.
After that they got the 5th place in the national level competition which was held in Kurunegala.
However, the team did not lose their confidence; they practiced even harder during the Corona Pandemic and entered the competition this year.
It was a big challenge to have many new players in the team this time. However, they continued to practice and participated in the western Province Competition which was held in Colombo. This team was led by master Niresh.
Their rigorous training earned them the first place in the Western Province.
After that, they were able to win the first place in the national level competition which was held in Trincomalee last week due to their efforts and self-confidence.
This is a huge success for the team and Hindu College Colombo because for the first time a boy’s school from Western Province has achieved such a success.
The main reason for this success comes from the school principal Mr.K.Maniparan, and the previous POG Mr. Kausigan, Current POG Mr. Dharma, Teacher in-charge Mrs. Kavita and most importantly the coach Mrs. Iswari.
It is a milestone in the history of Colombo Hindu College. More wins to come.
