The Department of Meteorology says the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the South-East of Sri Lanka is expected to develop further.
Therefore, rainy conditions over most parts of the Island are expected to enhance further.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern, Uva, North, and North-Central provinces and in the Matale district. Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere during the afternoon or night.
Heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Eastern, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
For sea areas, the department said the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the South-east of Sri Lanka is expected to develop further during the next 48hours.
Therefore, the Naval and fishing communities have been requested to remain vigilant when engaging in activities in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Kankasanturai via Batticaloa and Trincomalee. (NewsWire)
