Inter-University Student’s Federation (IUSF) Convenor Wasantha Mudalige has been produced before the Tangalle Magistrate today.
Mudalige along with a few other IUSF student leaders was detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) for participating in a protest.
He has been produced before the Tangalle Magistrate today after being detained for nearly 90 days.
Several protests were held challenging Mudalige’s detention and calling on the authorities to either release him or produce him in court.
The Supreme Court last week (10), granted leave to proceed with the Fundamental Rights petition that was filed regarding the detention of Mudalige.
The court also instructed the Police to produce Mudalige before the courts. (NewsWire)
