A 3 ½-year-old child has died following an attack on his family in the Ranbimagama area in Matale yesterday (14).
The Police said a mother and her three children had been attacked with a sharp object in the incident that occurred last morning.
The woman, her daughter, and two sons who were injured in the attack had been admitted to the Matale Hospital after which the younger son succumbed to injuries.
The Police said the attack had been carried out by a man who has been identified as a neighbour.
The injured woman, who is 39 years old, and her 19-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son are undergoing treatment at the Matale Hospital.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the attack had taken place due to a long-standing personal dispute between the family and the suspect’s family.
The suspect has been arrested along with the weapon used to carry out the attack, while the Matale Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
