A teacher at a private school in Divulapitiya charged with assaulting a school student was released on bail by the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court.
The court released the female teacher on two sureties of Rs. 200,000 each when the case was taken up for hearing yesterday.
The Police have also been instructed to produce the child before the Judicial Medical Officer at the Gampaha General Hospital and obtain a report, to be submitted during the next court hearing.
The female teacher is accused of having slapped a grade 06 student of a private school in the Maradagahamula area in Divulapitiya on 18th November.
She is reported to have hit the child after he had failed to answer a single question on a test of 18 questions.
The Police informed the court that the child was discharged after receiving treatment at the Gampaha General Hospital and the doctors instructed him to report for further examinations. (NewsWire)
