A 20-year-old youth has been arrested on charges of having sexually molested a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Morawaka.
According to Aruna Newspaper, the suspect was arrested by officials from the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA).
The arrest was made after video footage of the sexual abuse had been shared on WhatsApp with several people, including the victim’s school principal.
Police investigations have revealed that the suspect had sexually molested the victim on 11 occasions at her residence.
The Police said the suspect had sexually abused the girl after her parents had left for work and had recorded sexually explicit material pertaining to the victim on his mobile phone.
He is reported to have shared the video footage with several people, including his friends and the victim’s school principal, via WhatsApp.
The victim has been directed to a children’s home, while the suspect is due to be produced before the Morawaka Magistrate’s Court by the National Child Protection Authority. (NewsWire)
