The Department of Motor Traffic is considering introducing CCTV to monitor driving trials.

The measure is being considered amidst allegations of corrupt invigilators and bribes to obtain driving licences.

The Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, Nishantha Weerasingha said that the use of CCTV cameras had been previously tested, but had been halted.

The Department of Motor Traffic intends to conduct another trial using CCTV cameras prior to introducing the new system islandwide.

The department is also considering introducing fingerprint scanning at written exams, currently in use at the Werehera exam centre, across the country soon. (NewsWire)
