Student union leaders Wasantha Mudalige and Ven. Galwewa Siridamma Thero have been granted bail by the Kaduwela Magistrate’s court today.
Inter-Student University Federation (IUF) convenor Wasantha Mudalige and Inter-University Bhikku Federation (IUBF) convenor Ven. Galwewa Siridamma Thero have been detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
The two student leaders have been detained under the PTA for over 90 days due to their participation in anti-government protests in Colombo.
The two student leaders were produced in court today on charges of having destroyed or caused harm to public property.
The Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court released Wasantha Mudalige and Ven. Galwewa Siridamma Thero on bails of Rs. 100,000 each.
Ven. Galwewa Siridamma Thero will be released under bail, while Wasantha Mudalige remains detained under the PTA until 12th December over another case. (NewsWire)
