A meeting chaired by the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera was held today to discuss measures to reduce the cost of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
In a Twitter message today, Minister Wijesekera said the discussion also focused on further steps that could be taken to reduce the expenses of the CEB.
Instructions were given to hold the ongoing construction work of the CEB’s new headquarters, while a decision was also taken to introduce paperless bills and receipts from January to all customers.
Decisions were also taken to regulate the fixing of street lamps and operating street lamps, outsourced services to be carried out with the existing staff, and work that cannot be completed by CEB to be carried out with the assistance of Local Councils, the minister further said.
The meeting was held with the participation of Deputy General Managers and Assistant General Managers of the CEB. (NewsWire)
