The Colombo District Cort today issued notice to Samagi Jana Balawegaya Leader Sajith Premadasa and party General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara to report to the court on 25th January 2023.
The notice was issued after taking up for consideration a petition filed by Parliamentarian Diana Gamage challenging the party membership of MPs Sajith Premadasa and Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
In her complaint, State Minister Diana Gamage says that the two MPs are not suitable to hold their relevant positions in the SJB as they are functioning as members of another party apart from the SJB.
Gamage further states that the two MPs have filed a case against the suspension of their party membership by the United National Party (UNP).
Thereby, she has called on the court to issue an order preventing them from acting in their designated posts in the Samagi Jana Balawegaya due to their court case pertaining to their UNP membership. (NewsWire)
