The Bambalapitiya Police has arrested a 19-year-old individual on charges of financially defrauding individuals by posing as the owner of a car showroom.
According to the Daily News, the suspect had posed as the owner of a car showroom in Bambalapitiya and had posted fake advertisements on Facebook offering job opportunities at the Port.
Investigations have revealed that the man, who is an employee of a hotel, has been engaged in this financial fraud for a period of time.
He is reported to have collected money from various individuals who had fallen victim to the fake Facebook posts offering job opportunities at the Port.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday (06) based on a complaint filed by the owner of the car showroom at the Bambalapitiya Police station.
He was later remanded until 20th December 2022 after being produced in court. (NewsWire)
