The 26-year-old driver of a luxury car that was involved in a fatal accident in Colpetty on Saturday (10), killing one person, has been remanded until 16th December 2022.
The suspect was arrested by Immigration officials upon his arrival at the Katunayake Airport from Dubai last night (12).
He had crashed his luxury car after hitting a three-wheeler from behind while allegedly returning from a nightclub with his friends on Saturday morning.
Following the accident on Galle Road in Colpetty, the suspect fled the scene and left for Dubai on the same day.
The driver of the three-wheeler had succumbed to injuries at the hospital, while one female among two of the passengers of the car had been assaulted by those who had witnessed the accident.
The Police said a court order had been obtained imposing an overseas travel ban on the suspect.
The suspect, who is a 26-year-old resident of Wellampitiya, was taken to the Colpetty Police Station following his arrest. (NewsWire)
