LPL commended for promoting #VisitSriLanka globally

The ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL) cricket tournament has been applauded for its promotion of Sri Lanka as a travel destination, attracting foreign tourists.

The LPL 2022 broadcast carried out thus far has been screening several tourism programmes with snippets on tourist attractions in the country, along with the match commentators sharing their views promoting Sri Lanka as a tourist destination.

Several people have commended the LPL coverage for portraying the beauty of Sri Lanka and its efforts in boosting tourism for the country, amidst the current economic crisis.

The next phase of the LPL 2022 is heading towards Colombo with the matches lined up to be played at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has already commenced physical and online ticket sales for the matches at several venues in Colombo and on non-match days at the cricket stadium as well.

Sri Lankans have been urged to support the franchise-based cricket tournament which has seen the emergence of several young and talented players for the national cricket team.

Sri Lanka’s Tourism Ambassador and former cricketer, Sanath Jayasuriya speaking to NewsWire invited all local cricket enthusiasts to show their support for the Sri Lanka-based cricket tournament by attending the cricket matches.

“It is essential to feel the support of our own citizens as this cricket tournament is our league, a Sri Lankan league. It will also encourage our local cricketers and help produce more talented and promising cricketers for our national team,” Jayasuriya said.

Stating that it is also the duty of the citizens to promote such locally-based franchise tournaments, Jayasuriya called on all Sri Lankans to show their support at the upcoming LPL matches in Colombo.

The Lanka Premier League 2022 is being broadcasted globally in over 120 territories to millions of cricket fans worldwide.

Sri Lanka’s Tourism Minister Harin Fernando has expressed his gratitude to the LPL tournament for its efforts in promoting Sri Lanka as a tourist destination.

“Such promotions are essential at present for Sri Lanka which is in the midst of an economic crisis. The LPL is commended for its great promotion of Sri Lanka to attract tourists to the country,” he added. (NewsWire)
