The US Embassy in Colombo has issued a notice warning Sri Lankans of a US Visa scam via WhatsApp.
In a special message to visa applicants, the Embassy said that its consular section in Colombo will never use WhatsApp to contact regarding a visa application.
“We do NOT confirm job offers for you. Insurance is NOT required by the Embassy to travel to the United States. Someone trying to charge you for these extra visa services is most likely trying to scam you,” the Embassy said.
The US Embassy further said that official US visa information is available at no cost at ustraveldocs.com/lk. (NewsWire)
