Two murders have been reported in separate areas within the last 24 hours ending at 06 am today.
A 23-year-old employee of a garage in Gangodawila, Mirihana has died after being attacked by a fellow employee last morning (02).
The Police said the two individuals had held a party at the Garage on 1st night which had resulted in an argument escalating between the two.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim had assaulted the other individual during the argument, and after he fell asleep the suspect had attacked him with a blunt object resulting in his death.
The two individuals who are employees of the garage are reported to have been residing within the premises of the garage.
The victim is a resident of Solawewa, Giribawa, while the 65-year-old suspect, a resident of Deniyaya, has been arrested over the murder. The Mirihana Police is conducting further investigations.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old woman from Mahawatta, Thiniyawala has died after being attacked by her husband last night (02).
The Police said the woman who was residing with her husband in Hiniduma had been assaulted by the man over an extra-marital affair, resulting in her being hospitalised at the Hiniduma Hospital on 30th December.
The woman had later gotten discharged and had lived with her mother during which her husband had arrived at the house last night and had attacked her and had eventually slit her throat.
The deceased is a 33-year-old resident of Hingalgoda, Hinidhuma, while the 36-year-old suspect, who is also a resident of Hiniduma, has been arrested. The Thiniyawala Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
