A 05-year-old boy has died after being forced to consume poison by his mother in the Thalahena area, the Naalla Police said.
According to the Police, the woman had forced her son and 08-year-old daughter to consume poison after which she herself had consumed the poison.
While the son had died, the mother is in critical condition undergoing treatment at the Wathupitiwala hospital, while the daughter is also in critical condition at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo.
The woman’s relatives have revealed to the Police that she was known to have been in severe debt. The family of three are residents of the Loluwagoda area in Thalahena.
The Naalla Police is conducting investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
