The first generator of the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochcholai has been reconnected to the National Grid.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) stated that the first generator was added to the grid around 10:15 last night (07).

The generator was shut down on the 23rd of December 2022 in order to manage the coal stocks and for maintenance purposes.

However, the generator has been added after a consignment of coal had arrived in Sri Lanka last week.

The CEB stated that 31,830MT of coal has been discharged as of this morning, while 26,204MT of coal remains to be unloaded. (NewsWire)
