The Sports Ministry has taken necessary measures to obtain the advice of the Attorney General pertaining to the report on the influence of a religious sect on the national men’s cricket team.

The five-member committee appointed by the Sports Minister to investigate incidents related to the team that participated in the T20 World Cup in Australia has acknowledged the influence of a religious sect on certain players.

The committee’s report revealed that it was unclear as to how many cricketers were part of the religious sect identified as the ‘Born Again’ religious congregation.

The report also warned that the religious sect poses the risk of future influence in the national cricket team, and measures must be taken to prevent such influences.

Thereby, the Sports Ministry Secretary, on the advice of the Sports Minister, has taken necessary measures to obtain the recommendations of the Attorney General in this regard.

The Sports Ministry Secretary today handed over the five-member committees’ report to the AG for further advice. (NewsWire)
