Sri Lanka has obtained a total of US Dollars 29,922 million in loans from foreign nations, international organizations, and banks between 1st January 2015 to 31st December 2022, State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe said.
Addressing the Parliament yesterday (17), he said that, however, a total of US$ 349 million has been officially received as grants during the said period.
State Minister Semasinghe further stated that the grants were received under agreements signed with various organizations related to foreign loans and were used within a stipulated time period as per the agreement.
Following is a breakdown of the loans and grants obtained between 2015- 2022:
