The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has raided an employment agency that had been operating illegally in the Marawila area.
Issuing a statement, the SLBFE stated that the employment agency had obtained money from people from various parts of Sri Lanka promising jobs in Romania.
The SLBFE stated that investigation officers of the SLBFE had seized 38 passports, Rs. 30,000 in cash and several other documents during the raid.
Two suspects, including the owner of the employment agency, had also been arrested during the raid.
However, they have been released on two Sureties of Rs. 500,000 each after being produced before the Marawila Magistrate’s Court.
The case against the employment agency will be taken up for hearing again on 21st June 2023. (NewsWire)
