‘Gajaman’, the first ever three-dimensional (3D) animation movie using motion capture technology in the history of Sri Lanka is now being screened in cinemas.

The 3D animation movie is based on Sri Lanka’s most popular yesteryear cartoon character ‘Gajaman’ or ‘Camillus’ Gajaman’.

Cartoonist Camillus Perera’s ‘Gajaman’ was one of the most popular cartoon series that appeared in the comic strip magazine ‘Sathsiri’ and was originally created in the 1960s.

The cartoon series reached such popularity that Camillus Perera published a separate newspaper on ‘Gajaman’.

The much-awaited 3D movie in Sri Lanka is directed by Chanaka Perera and produced by John Fonseka and Chamika Jinadasa.

‘Gajaman’ synopsis:

Gajaman is a henchman of the local politician Magodisthuma. Gajaman’s life is turned upside down when Magodisthuma asks him to pick up his daughter and her friend from the airport. Trouble is, Gajaman falls in love with Magodisthuma’s daughter immediately as he sees her. Magodisthuma becomes furious when he finds out about this. Gajaman is exiled from his village and he tries to sneak back in with the help of his friend Amdan. The movie revolves around the classic Sri Lankan characters Gajaman and Magodisthuma created by Camillus Perera from newspaper cartoons in the 60s. (NewsWire)
