Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (JHU) Leader MP Udaya Gammanpila has proposed that both state and private sector employees be paid on a weekly basis to address the salary payment crisis.
Addressing the media, MP Gammanpila pointed out that the government has informed that there will be a delay in paying salaries of state employees this month, while certain private institutions are also facing a similar issue.
He further pointed out that employees run out of money by the third week of the month when obtaining monthly salaries and are forced to obtain loans until they receive their next salary.
Stating that weekly salary payments will help employees with expenses per week, he said neither the employees nor institutions need to face difficulties due to the system of monthly salary payments.
MP Gammanpila added that many foreign nations also currently follow the weekly or once in two weeks salary system and not monthly payments. (NewsWire)
