SL saves US$ 2500 million via import ban

Sri Lanka was able to retain USD 2,500 million during the period from the suspension of imports to date, State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.

Issuing a statement via the Finance Ministry, the State Minister said that fuel, medicines, and fertilizers are being imported without a shortage at present due to enforcing an import ban on certain items.

State Minister Siyambalapitiya further said that he does not expect the economic condition to worsen this year similar to that of 2022. (NewsWire)
