A 68-year-old pedestrian has died after sustaining injuries in a water pipeline explosion on a road in Hemaththagama, Mawanella last afternoon (26).
The Police stated that a company attached to the Water Board in Mawanella had been inspecting the water pressure in the water pipeline by the side of the road when it exploded.
A man who was walking on the road had sustained injuries in the explosion and had been admitted to the Mawanella Hospital, after which he succumbed to injuries.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Hemaththagama, Mawanella. The Mawanella Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
