The 144th Battle of the Blues between St. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia and Royal College Colombo has been rescheduled in view of the Local Government elections.

The long-standing school cricket match which is generally played on March 9,10 and 11 has been rescheduled to the immediate next weekend.

The joint organising committee said on Friday that the match has been rescheduled due to the Local Government Election being scheduled for the opening day of the match and also to avoid any potential problems.

Issuing a statement to the media, the committee said the match will now be played with spectators on the 16, 17 and 18th of March at the SSC grounds.

“This is due to the announcement that the planned local government elections are scheduled to take place on 09th March. The Joint Match Organising Committee in concurrence with the two heads of schools has decided to reschedule the game for the following week,” the committee further said.

The 144th Battle of the Blues is returning after a lapse of two years, to a spectator-filled encounter.
