Former President Maithripala Sirisena has announced his intention to contest the next Presidential election.
Sirisena said he would contest the next Presidential Election as the Presidential Candidate from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
“I am not afraid of any conspiracies. I respect the judiciary and the law. No matter how I am harassed in the future, I will contest the next Presidential election with the support of my party. I will contest the next Presidential election as I have the confidence that I will win the election,” he said.
Maithripala Sirisena made the remarks while participating in a press conference held today (31).
Sirisena previously served as the seventh President of Sri Lanka from 2015- 2019, after contesting the Presidential election as a common candidate. (NewsWire)
