The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is focussing on obtaining the assistance of Interpol to investigate the death of Sri Lankan businessman Onesh Subasinghe in Jakarta, Indonesia.

According to the Daily News, a senior CID official has stated that a team may be dispatched to Indonesia if the need arises.

Sri Lankan businessman Onesh Subasinghe was found dead inside a service apartment in Jakarta, Indonesia on 2nd February 2023. He along with his wife, daughter, and his wife’s assistant had left for Indonesia on a vacation on 20th January 2023.

Due to his secretary being unable to contact Subasinghe on 2nd February, his family had inquired from the service apartment management after which the staff had entered his apartment in Jakarta to find his body.

His Brazilian wife and her assistant, who is also a Brazilian woman, together with Subasinghe’s 04-year-old daughter are reported to have left for Doha, Qatar the same day. CCTV footage also shows the group leaving the service apartment with their belongings on the day of the alleged murder.

Indonesian Police have reported foul play in Onesh Subasinghe’s death ruling out natural causes.

A senior official from the CID has revealed that as per information from Indonesia, it appears that the murder had been pre-planned and may have been carried out by the assistant of Subasinghe’s wife.

It has also come to light that the murder had been planned in Sri Lanka and executed in Indonesia.

Thereby, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation into the murder on the directive of the Inspector General of Police (IGP). (NewsWire)
