The Police have launched an investigation into an incident where an individual had stolen a car after locking the owner, who is a magistrate, inside a house in the Madapatha area in Piliyandala.
According to Ada Derana, the magistrate had advertised his luxury house for rent on a property website after which an individual had arrived to inspect the house.
During the inspection, the suspect had locked the magistrate in a room upstairs and had stolen his car.
The magistrate had managed to escape from the room through the window after which the Police had been informed of the robbery.
Police investigations have reported that the suspect had arrived at the location through a hired three-wheeler.
