Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa has alleged that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has provided three undertakings to Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MPs who support him.
MP Premadasa claimed that Ranil Wickremesinghe was appointed as the President after promising SLPP MPs protection, compensation for their damaged houses, and vowing not to dissolve Parliament prior to the end of its current term.
Addressing a public rally in Nochchiyagama yesterday (21), MP Sajith Premadasa pointed out that the current President who doesn’t have the people’s mandate has only been appointed to protect the SLPP MPs.
Urging the government to refrain from postponing the Local Government polls, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader warned that they will take to the streets if the rights of the people are violated.
MP Sajith Premadasa further stated that all those who are providing assistance to postpone the elections will be brought before the law. (NewsWire)
