Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara says that relief will provided to the public through the fuel price revision in the month of April.
Addressing a gathering in Minuwangoda, the Minister has said that the benefit of the strengthening of the Rupee against the US Dollar will be passed on to the general public.
The Minister has further said that a request has been put forward by candidates contesting the local government elections to increase their fuel quota from 5 liters per week to 5 liters per day for motorcycles.
However, he added that it would take 6 months to arrange funds to import the fuel required for 80,000 candidates and the same has been communicated to the Election Commission as well.
The Minister went on to add that to reduce the fuel and electricity tariffs, restructuring of these institutions is necessary. (NewsWire)
