Two persons are reported dead after a car had been hit by a train at a railway crossing in the Koggala area in Galle today (16).
A car that had attempted to cross the railway crossing near the Koggala Fertilizer warehouse had been hit by a train plying from Kandy to Matara.
According to reports, the car which had gotten entangled with the train had been dragged nearly 200 meters to the next railway crossing near the Koggala Air Force Camp.
Area residents had attempted to rescue two individuals who were trapped in the car, but it is reported that they had succumbed to injuries by then. (NewsWire)
