New Zealand defeat SL to level T20I series

New Zealand levelled the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka 1-1, beating the latter by 09 wickets in the second T20 match at Dunedin today. 

Adam Milne’s five-wicket haul and Tim Seifert’s unbeaten 79 set up New Zealand’s nine-wicket victory against Sri Lanka. 

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted a score of 141 all out in 19 overs. Dhanajaya de Silva and Kusal Perera contributed with 37 and 35 runs each.

Adam Milne was the key wicket-taker for New Zealand picking up 5/26, while Ben Lister picked up 2/26.

Chasing a target of 142, New Zealand scored 146/1 in 14.4 overs to defeat Sri Lanka by 09 wickets with 32 balls remaining. 

Tim Seifert top-scored for New Zealand with 79 off 43 balls, while Tom Latham contributed 20 off 30 balls.

Sri Lanka’s Kasun Rajitha picked the only wicket of New Zealand. 

The final tie-breaker match between the two teams will be at Queenstown on Saturday, 08th April 2023. (NewsWire)
